Easter Fashion Anyone?

Whatever happened to the good ole days when Easter was a time to get a pretty new dress with matching gloves and hat?  Times they are a changing!!  Not only is the fashion but so is the weather.  Have you noticed how our Spring weather seems to staying cooler, longer.

Easter is a time to brunch with the family or the girls, dinner and drinks out, walks in the park or days of shopping while on your spring break.  No matter the event, of course a certain fashion attire is required.  Well, not really, but I do feel that it is important to still put an effort into your holiday attire, even though it is not like it was when my parents grew up.  For this time of year, when the weather is still unpredictable, it is best to be dressed in layers, with bits of posh accessories so that you will be prepared in case you have to go from brunch with the family to partying afterwards.

Here are some winter fashion ideas for your Easter break that also happens to be right on trend with this seasons fashions.

Printed brocade jacket with a very posh hat to finish off your holiday look.  Stay warm and yet, still fashionable.

Love this look, mixing hard and soft.  Looking Springy while still staying warm in soft layers.

An outfit easy to transition from day to night, leather jacket, fur vest and fashionable beanie hat.  Again, layering this time of year is key to any outfit, it allows for a sudden change in weather…or venue.  You are prepared no matter the occasion.

What To Wear For the Holidays 2012

Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve…it’s that time of year when you have to start thinking a bit snazzier attire.  You want to look fashionable but you might also want to be comfortable.  Here are some great holiday wardrobe ideas for this upcoming holiday season!  And we can’t forget about our hair to complete the look, some tips also included to make us look FAB for this time of year!!

For that house holiday party or occasion, look fashionable, yet comfy.  Put on a pair of skinny jeans/pants with a wrap or cardigan sweater with some fabulous accessories to jazz up the outfit and make it look effortless yet well put together and fashionable.

Another option for that comfy yet fashionable look, jazz up your bottoms with pleather leggings instead of your regular everyday leggings.  Again, pair it with a long sweater and some ankle booties and you are ready!!

Want to look a bit more festive, try this amazing Minnie Mortimer dress. Casual, yet holiday-appropriate, this red number is a great basic to build on.  You can find this dress at madisonlosangeles.com

This navy blue number gives just the right look and feel for a holiday party. Its A-line cut is whimsical and festive, while its silver belt adds a sparkle, without going too over the top.  This dress is available at jcp.com.

No, for that really fancy smancy holiday party or function, try on this fabulous little number by La Rok.  Black and gold dresses can give any cut a regal appeal. Look classy yet youthful with this short dress with quarter-length sleeves.  This dress is available at  saksfifthavenue.com

Now that we have wardrobe taken care of, we can’t forget about the rest of ourselves, like hair and make-up, this will give you the complete glam, holiday look!!

How about a side fishtail, gives you that effortless, yet chic look for any semi-casual affair.  And don’t forget to add a statement piece necklace to really set-off your hair style!

How about a twisted top knot for that chic-glam look.  Just keep in mind that everyone’s face shape is different, so you need to make sure the knot isn’t too high on the head — the back of the crown is universally flattering.  Pull the top half of your hair back into a ponytail, making sure the front doesn’t look too slicked back. It should appear as if the hair was “raked” with your fingers.

Not wanting to wear you hair up and want that sexy chic look, try this “vampy volume” side-swept hair do.  There is a lot of prep involved with this style, but so worth it for the final result!!

Well, I hope I have given you some ideas to help you get yourself ready for this holiday season to look your absolute most fashionable self!!!  For more information check out Marie Claire online.

Spooky Halloween Nail Tutorials

You have your costume, your pet is dressed up, but what about your nails?! Here are some Halloween nail tutorials so you can get started!

Evil Eyes

by Refinery29

1. After applying basecoat, paint nails with two coats of Scorn. Allow nails to dry for 3–5 minutes.
2. Pour out a small amount of Scorch onto tin foil. Dip the large end of a dotting tool into the polish and dot the polish onto your nail. Repeat three times on each nail. Allow to dry 3–5 minutes.
3. Pour a small puddle of Serenity onto foil. Dip the small end of a dotting tool into polish and dot in the very center of each white circle. Repeat on each nail. Allow to dry 3–5 minutes.
4. Dip the point of a toothpick into Scorn and gently dot a tiny black point into the center of each eye.
5. After allowing to dry, add optional topcoat for a shiny finish, or leave it off to stay matte.

Paint your nails purple, or color of your choice, then with a thin striper nail art brush add the webs. If you do not have a nail art brush, just use a toothpick!

Bloody Nails

This is such a fun one for those of us who are being zombies this year!

Claws

by Honeymunchkin.com

On a completely naked nail, I put square pieces of tape starting at the middle of the nail bed diagonally across the nail to the middle of the tip, on both sides, on all nails. Then I applied a dark gray polish (black probably works just as well, but the dark gray makes the contrast softer), until it covered completely. Then I carefully peeled off the tape and applied the nude polish on the bits that were naked, and to top it off I added a thin line of a lighter gray in the middle of the claw, as to try and get some form of light illusion. Add top coat and you’re all done!

Depending on what color you would like at the base of the nail, start with that color. For the nails above, paint entire nail yellow. Then take your orange color and only paint 2/3 of your nail just like the picture shows. Allow each layer to dry in between and finish with a stripe of white at the bottom.

Rorschach Inkblot

Rip a piece of painter’s tape about an inch long. Carefully fold it in half, leaving the top apart and cut a small design into your folded edge. Think about a heart… you cut half a hear on a folded piece of paper then open it and you get a perfectly proportioned heart. This is the same. After applying a few coats of your white or base polish and allowing it to dry, adhere your tape design over your nail and carefully paint your darker shade over it. Only allow it to set for a few seconds, then carefully pull your tape off. You don’t really want your design to be perfect. To give them a bit more depth, I dotted on more polish, trying to mimic an inkblot & some symmetry on either side.

Fashionable Halloween Costume Inspiration!

Stumped on what to wear this Halloween? Did you get invited to a last minute Halloween party? Rather than going as a cat or a witch, here are some fashionable Halloween costume ideas to hopefully get you inspired.

Modern-day Wednesday Adams:

Channel your inner goth and be my favorite Adams Family character all grown up! Dress in black and white (mostly black!) and make sure you keep the makeup pale. Wear your hair in two braids, otherwise people might not recognize you : )

Karl Lagerfeld:

Now who wouldn’t want to be the leading designer for Chanel? This one is great for guys or girls! All you need is a black suit and tie, a white ponytail and LOTS of rings!

Anna Wintour:

The editor of Vogue is known for her over-sized sunglasses and bobbed hair. Wear a fur coat to finish off this look! Don’t forget to look serious!

Early Madonna:

Madge from the 80’s is probably the easiest one to pull off. You may even still have some of these items around your house! Think lace, jelly bracelets, mesh, leather jackets and teased hair. Draw on the full eyebrows and signature mole too!

Today’s Cruella De Vil:

Wear the most dramatic black and white outfit you can get and spike that hair! Bonus points if the shoulders are pointy– it gives it that eeriness factor.

Beautiful Day of the Dead:

This is a very easy look as long as you can handle the makeup. Good thing there are plenty of tutorials out there on it! Make sure to put some flowers in your hair and wear a lacy, flowy dress.

Cleopatra:

Have you ever been to a toga party? Make good use of a bed sheet and get your biggest gold necklace imaginable! Don’t forget to draw on that classic Egyptian eye makeup!

Lady Mary Crawley:

Travel back to the roarin’ 20’s and dress like your favorite rich English family from Downton Abbey. Wear a long, elegant dress, pearl earrings and pin your hair up. Be on your best behavior if you want to be like Lady Mary!

Audrey Hepburn:

Classic! Get your LBD, some pearls and do your hair up into a french twist. Need more inspiration? Watch Breakfast at Tiffany’s!

Honey Boo Boo:

Ok, ok… so I know this one is not the most fashionable on the list, but it will sure get people talking! Whether you like her or not, her show is a hit right now and you can’t deny this little girl has confidence! Head to a thrift store or consignment shop and look for your biggest, sparkliest 80’s prom dress and cake on the makeup!
